John Karalash passed away peacefully with family by his side on Wednesday February 23, 2011 at Ste. Anne Hospital. He was predeceased by his wife, Mary in 1987. He leaves to cherish his memory his son Roman (Susan); four grandchildren, Yvonne, Jennifer, Robert/BJ (Stephanie) and Peter; six great grandchildren, Ashley, Justina, Nathan, Matthew, Jayson and Evan. John was born February 26, 1915. He worked hard his whole life digging Seneca roots, planting trees and most enjoyed picking blueberries with his wife Mary and his grandchildren. He lived in his home until he had a stroke in 2009 when he went to live at Villa Youville in Ste. Anne, MB. The family would like to express their thanks to the home care workers who aided him at home Ginette, Bonnie, Donna and Julie; the wonderful people at Villa Youville who cared for him for during the time he lived there and the caring nurses and Dr. Duval at Ste. Anne Hospital. The funeral service will be held Sunday, February 27 at 2:30 p.m. at Birchwood Funeral Chapel in Steinbach. Interment at Grunthal Cemetery.
