Obituary of Susan Heide

Our beloved wife, mother and grandmother Sue went to be with her Lord on May 10, 2013. Sue was born on January 12, 1936 in Radville, Saskatchewan and moved to Brandon in 1945. At an early age Sue accepted Jesus Christ as her Saviour and continued to follow Him her entire life. Sue met Abe Heide and they were married October 18, 1958. They were blessed with two children, Sherril and Kevin. Abe and Sue spent 50 years of their married life in Brandon before moving to Steinbach in 2008 to be close to their children and grandchildren. Sue loved being with people and making new friends. She enjoyed music, singing in a trio with her sisters Nettie and Lil, making a record and using their music to minister to others. She loved cooking and baking, and was involved in many areas of ministry in the church. Sue loved to laugh. She enjoyed being a stay at home mom to be there for her children. She enjoyed watching sports, cheering on her kids and later grandkids in their activities. She was predeceased by her parents, Henry and Lena Penner; brother Henry, and sisters Nettie and Lil. She is survived by her loving husband of 54 years Abe, her daughter Sherril (Wes) Reimer and son Kevin (Kathy) as well as seven grandchildren; Jody, Krista and Vanessa Reimer; Burke, Paige, Claire and Drew Heide. She is also survived by five brothers and two sisters and their families. The family would like to express appreciation to Dr. Darren Reimer and the staff at Bethesda Hospital for their loving care and amazing support during Sue’s illness. A private viewing will be held at Birchwood Funeral Chapel in Steinbach on Tuesday, May 14. The funeral service will be held Wednesday, May 15 at 2:00 p.m. at the Emmanuel Evangelical Free Church, 360 McKenzie Ave, Steinbach. Private burial to take place prior to the service. If friends so desire donations may be made to the Emmanuel Evangelical Free Church mission for the work of Jason and Shannon Hiebert in Bolivia.
