Obituary of Peter Reimer

Peter Reimer was born to Aaron and Mary Loewen Reimer on November 13, 1950, at Los Jagueyes, Mexico. On June 4, 2013, after a short battle with cancer, he quietly slipped away, his wife and some children by his side. He reached the age of 62. As a young boy of 4 his dad died and left the family of mom and four young children to manage on their own. When Dad was ten his mom married Menno Loewen, who became dad's father. After this they moved to Belize, Central America and spent his youth pioneering and settling into a primitive setting. Dad provided well for his family with mechanics, farming, logging and the last 18 years in manufacturing. He had a conversion experience in his youth and was baptized into the Kleine Gemeinde church at age seventeen. He married our Mom, Helena Dyck, on July 30, 1972. God blessed them with 4 boys and 6 girls. Dad’s concern for the salvation of himself and his family caused him to search for a deeper spiritual life and fellowship. He found this in the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite after missionaries preached the gospel in Spanish Lookout. Dad and mom were baptized into the Church on July 15, 1984 by Min. Lorne Shellenberg. He was faithful to these vows and deeply treasured spiritual conversation throughout his life. Dad was a constant spiritual support, and we often felt that social or earthly things took second place to spiritual things. In our growing up years, we felt a love and spiritual concern for each of us. With a concern for our welfare Dad took the family to Manitoba in 1989. The following year we went back to Belize. Then in 1995 it opened up to sell the farm, move to Manitoba and settle in the Rosenort community. We felt blessed with the congregation and youth group that accepted us. Dad was a quiet man with a sense of humor that we all enjoyed. He will be remembered by his grandchildren for his fond and gentle teasing. Dad always enjoyed it when the family came home. He was preceded in death by his father and two grandchildren. Those left to cherish memories are; his wife, Lena, and his children; Leona and Charles Friesen, Cartwright, Manitoba; Dan and Donna Reimer; John and Phyllis Reimer, Rosenort, Manitoba; Neta and Randy Trembach, Dewberry, Alberta; Susie and Ryan Dueck, Greenland, Manitoba; Doris and Evan Toews, Heart Valley, Alberta; Arlene and Roger Dirks, Rich Hill, Missouri; Narcenio, Dalton, and Emily of the home; and 19 grandchildren; parents Menno and Mary Loewen and all his brothers and sisters. Viewing for Peter Reimer will be held at the Church of God in Christ Mennonite in Rosenort, MB on Friday, June 7 at7:00 p.m. with a devotional at 7:30 p.m. and at the church prior to the service. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 8 at 2:30 p.m. at the Church of God in Christ Mennonite with interment at the church cemetery.
