Obituary of John Reimer

John Reimer was born September 10, 1938 to Jacob and Anna Reimer in the RM of Stuartburn, Manitoba. He died on June 10th, 2013. He was baptized on the confession of his faith before he married his sweetheart Mary Schroeder on May 3rd, 1959. They lived in the Tolstoi area all of their married lives. He loved being busy with his hands, working, building, creating and adapting machinery to suit his needs. He was entrepreneurial in his approach to his work and put his heart into it. He started out building elevators for Manitoba Pool Elevators as well as other construction. They decided to start a dairy farm which they continued until spring of 1991. Farming also included beef and hogs along with grain and corn harvesting. He concluded his work experience for his brother at Reimer Redi-mix hauling cement as well as truck repairs which was what he was doing when he passed away. He was involved in the local church by ushering, greeting as well as cleaning the church for many years. He was also involved in teaching Religious classes at Vita Shevchenko School for a number of years. He had a heart for missions, which led him to be extensively involved in the MCC organization and enjoyed going to Haiti on a mission trip working on construction projects through Grace Missions. He was also very passionate about various mission organizations including Far East Broadcasting, Gospel for Asia, Christian Blind Mission and Samaritan’s Purse. He enjoyed travelling with Mom and any of the children. He loved the annual fishing trips with his sons and sons-in-laws. He loved to sing with as well as listen to his children and grandchildren sing, they were his favorite singers, but he did enjoy going to gospel music festivals. He was predeceased by his parents Jacob and Anna Reimer as well as his sister Mary Giesbrecht. He is survived by his wife Mary Reimer of Tolstoi as well as 5 daughters and 3 sons: Martha (Mark) McCue of Spearfish South Dakota, Mary (Tom) Peters of Steinbach, Manitoba, Katherine (Erdman) Wiebe of Stevenson Island, Manitoba, Anne Reimer of Tolstoi, Sam (Nettie) Reimer of Tolstoi, Manitoba, John (Leona) Reimer of Caron, Saskatchewan, Bill (Virginia) Reimer of Caronport, Saskatchewan, and Lisa (Wes) Bergen of Kleefeld, Manitoba; 20 grandchildren, seven brothers and three sisters along with their families, as well as many good friends and neighbors. His love for Christ was an example to us which he displayed verbally as well as in his gracious, gentle and loving demeanor. He was someone who would love to come alongside and to help you do whatever it was you were doing, whether you were his child or a neighbor, a sibling or a friend. He had a positive outlook on life that helped him as well as inspired and affirmed others. He will be greatly missed. Viewing will be held at the Emmanuel Evangelical Free Church in Steinbach on Thursday, June 13 at 7:00 p.m. with a devotional at 7:30 p.m. The funeral service will be held Friday, June 14 at 1:00 p.m. also at the Emmanuel Evangelical Free Church with interment at the New Bothwell Sommerfeld Cemetery. If friends so desire donations may be made to Christian Blind Mission Int’l, Box 800, Stouffville, ON L4A 7Z9
