Obituary of Anne Giesbrecht

ANNE GIESBRECHT Anne (Nancy) Giesbrecht passed away peacefully at Tuxedo Villa Nursing Home, Winnipeg, on June 22, 2013 at the age of 96 years. She is survived by three daughters: Vange Goertzen, Marlene Klassen and Milly Giesbrecht and their families; five grandsons, one granddaughter and six great-grandchildren. She is survived by two sisters and a brother. Anne was predeceased by her husband, Dave in 1987; infant daughter Rose Gail in 1942; son Frank, in 1966; daughter, Grace in 2001 and one son-in-law. She was born and raised in Lowe Farm, August 23, 1916 to parents George and Aganetha (Penner) Nickel. In 1936, she was baptized upon confession of her faith in God and became a member of the Lowe Farm Bergthaler Church. She married Dave Giesbrecht in 1937 in Lowe Farm. Four years later, they moved to Steinbach where they lived until 1988 where they raised their family. She was devoted to her family and loved them deeply, being vitally involved in their lives. In June 1987, she and Dave celebrated their 50th anniversary and in the next month, her husband Dave died. In 1991, Anne moved to Bethel Place in Winnipeg and never looked back, becoming the Scrabble Queen of the block and family. Her faith in Jesus Christ carried her through many a loss and trial. She was convinced that God was able to keep that what she had committed and would never leave her or forsake her. The funeral service will be at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, 150 Penfeld Drive, Steinbach, Manitoba at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 28, 2013. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Canadian Cancer Society, 193 Sherbrook Street; Wpg., MB R3C 2B7
