Obituary of Gordon Wayne Bell

<p>It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Wayne Bell in Steinbach, MB on October 1, 2019.&nbsp;&nbsp; Following a 12-year journey with Cancer, Wayne left us peacefully, as he had wished, at home surrounded by his loving wife, and dog Tucker.</p> <p>Beloved Husband of Mary Jane (Hiebert); he will be missed by his sisters Barbara Bell; Wanda Bell &amp; Art Lockhart; father in law David Hiebert, and MJ&rsquo;s family: Barbara Dueck; Colleen &amp; George Loewen; Ellen Hiebert &amp; Murray Penner.&nbsp; He will be remembered by his nieces and nephews and their children, cousins and many, many wonderful friends.</p> <p>He was predeceased by his parents Gordon Bell and Hellen Smith; his mother in law Mary Hiebert and his brother in law, Dietmar Dueck.&nbsp;</p> <p>Born Gordon Wayne Bell on Friday the 13<sup>th</sup> in 1953, and raised in Killarney, Manitoba, he attended Killarney School, followed by Red River College.&nbsp;&nbsp; Wayne excelled at sports, especially Football in high school, and he quickly developed a life-long love of Golf<strong>.</strong>&nbsp; Wayne celebrated 2 holes-in-one and continues to hold the modern-day record with a 29 on the front nine at the Killarney Golf Course.</p> <p>Wayne lived life to the fullest with many passions<strong><em>, </em></strong>the greatest of which were golf, woodworking, and being at the house at the lake in Killarney. He loved his wife, dogs, travelling and Miller High Life Beer.&nbsp; He enjoyed hosting family and friends, and we are grateful to have been able to celebrate his 66<sup>th</sup> birthday this past September on Friday, the 13<sup>th</sup>.</p> <p>He celebrated life right to the end, with no regrets; showing us by example not only how to live, but also how to die with courage and grace.&nbsp; He approached cancer and his mortality with bravery and candor that were open and inspiring.&nbsp; He taught us so much.</p> <p>The family expresses sincere thanks to Dr. Joel Gingerich and Cheryl Greaves at CancerCare Manitoba; Dr. Curtis Krahn and the team at CancerCare in Steinbach; EMS &amp; RCMP in Steinbach.&nbsp; Thank you to the many friends and family who have provided love and support.</p> <p>A Celebration of Wayne&rsquo;s life will be held on Thursday, October 10, 2019, at 1:00 p.m. at Birchwood Funeral Chapel Steinbach, MB.&nbsp; Interment will be held at a later date.</p> <p>In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation, in Wayne&rsquo;s memory to CancerCare Manitoba Foundation.</p>
