I met John at SBC when I was in grade 11.
I have a few memories of chatting in his office.
Didnt know him that well but I was always impressed that he was so friendly to everyone.
He was genuine, something that is quite rare today.
Deepest sympathy.

My wonderful Uncle John has has gone to a better place and we send our deepest condolences to Aunt Nettie and the family. Growing up I had my first summer jobs working construction and on the farm with my Uncle. The work was usually tough but always fun. For instance, the humorous status code term for when something was aligned straight enough was “pri-sim-a-lee". I also learnt that when thrown off the young stallion horse we owned together that it was important to get right back on him and ride him like a boss.
Later in this journey of life my Uncle advised me on some Bible related questions I had. The answers I found out would lead me down a deep rabbit hole where a lot of dots needed to be connected before the truth could be seen for what it actually was. Life is full of surprises and many years later my Uncle John also turned out to be the one pushing me around in a wheel chair, when I could not walk for a while due to Cancer. There are so many things I appreciate and remember about my Uncle and I’m glad he was there to add them as great memories.
We have always loved to visit the family when we come to Steinbach and we will miss seeing him and catching up on news and views. Presently, given the uproar over the recent plandemic and the future disruption to life as we know it, I would tell my Uncle that "your world was a better time than now”.

We send our sincere condolences to you as a family, especially for the 'distancing' we all need to do now. Our loving and caring God is as close as ever, however. Our prayer is that you find comfort in that, and that you realize there are many friends who are mourning with you, even if at a distance. Eugene and Lottie Quasso

where does one begin. i am so glad that we were able to be at the graveside. the family did a great job of sharing blessings of there dad. when john was a truck driver picking up milk cans, he would allow me to come with him i was about 12. i enjoyed that but really i was just along for whatever treats he would buy me. he also showed me my first 3 chords on guitar. him and i played and sang many times together. we also sang in church, senior homes and the like. i have many great memories of my brother John. i was able to visit him and pray with him in the hospital. he was so looking forward to his heavenly home. Anne and i want to express our condolences to you Nettie and family, during these difficult days. may God give you strength and may his presence be very real.
