I was saddened to hear about Ernie's passing yesterday. I met Ernie in the late 90's when he and his brother Fred had a Fiberglass factory in Zhoda, i was their employee. He was a good boss and a decent man. I still look back at this time in my life with fond memories. (I still have the photo of all of us employees sitting on that giant fiberglass tank, and i still have the Buck tool that i received as a Christmas gift at the Christmas party at Ernie's house) His faith was evident then, and in later years as a got to know him better i realized he loved the Lord with all his heart. I sure look forward to seeing you again in heaven Ernie. We will sit at the Lords banquet table and enjoy a nice feast together. God bless his family and may He comfort you all through this difficult time of loss.

I recently had the pleasure of sharing a room at the Bethesda Hospital with Ernie. He could tell I was having a rough day and asked to pray for me. He truly had a mission in life and was faithful to the end.You will be missed my brother in Christ.

Our condolences to The Champagne family. Ernie was a great friend and a father figure to us The Hamilton’s. Our hearts are saddened by his passing and we will not forget his kindness as he was always checking up on us. You can never be too old or young where Ernie couldn’t reach you as he displayed a heart of a true Christian, no matter who you are. We will miss him but we do know that he is in a better place with God our heavenly father.

Our deepest sympathies to Virna, Darren, Ian and families, as well as all of Ernie’s siblings and their families. Ernie will be greatly missed at any future family gatherings. He always had a big smile and hug, and always made us feel special.
I’ll miss us reminiscing growing up in Giroux, when we’d relate some of the shenanigans you boys and my brother got into.
You’ll be missed, and never forgotten.

Ernie was a beautiful person. Growing up - he was always ready to help my dad with whatever problem we encountered in our house. I will cherish the memories with Virna, Darren and Ian and him - whether it was camping or just hanging out with both of our families. His personality would brighten the room. He will be missed. My deepest sympathies to Virna, Darren and Ian and the whole Champagne family. Rest in Peace Ernie

Ernie was my cousin, but more importantly, my friend. We grew up together in Giroux, going to school, playing baseball, and dating girls. We both worked at various times on the farm of Doug Baird and later for Gordon Horgan at Harper Construction every summer. He had a great sense of humour, was very positive in his approach to life and was very generous. When I was a poor university student, he would often chauffeur me around or lend me his car. Rest on peace my friend.

I still can't believe you are not here. Will miss your kindness and your smiles. A memory i have is during one sermon illustration pastor Tom walked up to you and gave you a kiss on the cheek. You could always roll with whatever life threw at you and you did it with a smile. I know right now you are smiling and there is joy unspeakable for you but we will miss you.

Ernie had a very special quality. When you were in his presence he made you feel like you were the most important person in the family. As children he spent many days at our home. His peanut butter , ketchup and mustard sandwiches were never something I could eat , but my Mom always made them for him. A character, his sense of humour made him lots of fun to be around. His faith was inspiring. His dedication to family unmeasured. His magnetic personality filled the room. He will truly be missed. My deepest condolences to Virna and his family especially. A huge loss to everyone that had the great fortune of knowing him. Julia

I first met Ernie at Steinbach Nissan when I bought my car there. He was such a fun and joking guy. I later went to Regent Nissan and bought another car there from him. He immediately remembered me and we had a great talk. He spoke so lovingly of his family. I send my condolences as you feel the hole he has left. Wanda Woelke
