James Enns posted a condolence

Some of my fondest and earliest memories of Uncle Jake go back to the days when he and his family lived on their farm just outside of town. For a young kid who grew up in a city in southern Germany, the farm was like Disneyland - a whole new world of adventure. And Uncle Jake enjoyed letting my siblings and me explore barns, chase the cats, play with their dogs (except for one particularly bad tempered one who remained chained to his dog house most of the time), watch him milk the cows, and even ride in the box of the grain truck when he was running the combine at harvest time. Mind you the trucks were much smaller and more kid-friendly than today's behemoths. He was unstintingly kind to his nephews and niece from Deutschland with a jovial disposition. A day at the farm invariably ended with a BBQ consisting hamburgers of which I had never seen the like before. They were giant sized, just like his infectious laugh, and Uncle Jake delighted in dolling them out to us fresh off the grill. Those same qualities of generosity, kindness and joviality remained part of Uncle Jake's wardrobe for his whole life as far as I can recount. They were garments that never wore out, never needed mending or laundering. He was always ready to wear that suit of clothes and they were always fresh, filling every room he entered with the fragrance of a God-honouring life, and the joyful presence of Jesus. Thank you Uncle Jake. Rest in peace.
James

On behalf of the Steinbach RCMP, I would like to send our condolences to the Enns family. Mr. Enns was a guard for many years at the Detachment and it did not matter what time of day, evening and especially night he always showed up for duty with a smile on his face and ready to work. I was sad to hear of his passing.

My condolences to the Enns family.
My dad and I have golfed with Richard and his dad on a few occasions. I remember Jacob being a very fast golfer. He didn’t need much time to think about a shot, he just stepped up and hit the ball.
May the faith your dad had give you strength in knowing he is in his Heavenly home.

Richard and family
Your dad was a good man. He always welcomed me into their home and he and your Mom introduced syrup on perogies to me. He was also faithful in attending our family Christmas breakfasts, where many conversations of faith, hockey and family occurred
Most of all I remember Your dad’s incredible faith and his willingness to share the gospel to all
Our condolences to you and all your family Richard

Remembering the enjoyable cousin time with your parents at Mary & Earl’s a year ago. I have so many good memories of being greeted with a huge smile, often a hug and friendly chat when we’d meet at the Post Office, downtown or at one of the male choir concerts. Our condolences to Tena & family. Keeping you all in prayer.

Our condolences to Tena and the family. Though our cousin Jac was a fair bit older than us, he was always very friendly and interested in what was happening in our lives, when we did meet up with him. So sorry to hear of his passing.

Mr. Jacob Enns was the driver for two ladies that taught Sunday School Sunday afternoons at the Lister West School 5.5 miles South of Grunthal for several years in the mid 1950's. The teachers were Miss Reddekopp and another lady whose name I have forgotten. It was Miss Reddekopp who found me close to the back of the big tent at the 1956 or 1957 Brunk Evangelistic services at the then fair grounds in Steinbach. She took me by the arm and asked if I wanted to accept Jesus into my heart. I went to the front of the tent and did just that. Mr. Enns was the man who made it possible for the M B Church in Steinbach to hold those Sunday School classes for several years. I think that this same group also held DVBS at that school several summers, but I am not quite sure. Also, just before Christmas in 1955 several cars came to our place about 4.25 miles Southwest of Grunthal and sang Christmas carols and left some gifts for us. We never found out for sure but our best guess has always been that the people who came to bless us that Christmas were some of the same people that know me, my sister and my brother who had attended those evangelistic mission efforts at Lister West School. My dad had died in a vehicle accident on November 5, 1955 just over a month before this. I believe Jacob Enns had something to do with that - he was just that kind of a man. The world will miss him.
