Aside from working for Manitoba Hydro Shorty was also well known for his involvement with local hockey and curling in Ste. Anne. In my younger days I became friends with his three girls Diane,Lise, and Doris and some years later I purchased the house next door and became his neighbour.
His hearty laugh and gentle smile will always be remembered.
My sincere condolences to Diane,Lise,Doris,Gerry and Roger and their families and surviving relatives.

MY sincere sympathy to Diane, Lisa, Doris, Gerry and Roger & your famiies. Your dad was such a great supporter of young people in Ste Anne back in the day my children were growing up & I so appreciated how fair and giving he always was.Ste Anne was lucky to have him!.

I worked for Shorty for the better part of a year. I learned a lot as a trainee - Shorty was always very good to work for. I enjoyed my stay on his crew.
Rest in Peace Shorty !!

Later on, when I worked briefly for Manitoba Hydro, I heard through others that had worked with him, that he was someone who could be depended upon to get the job done and was really well liked by his crew.
Yes, he did lose his identity in his old age, but I believe that, in his death, he received all those memories again and looked back on a life well lived.
Toutes mes sympathies à la famille.

I remember Shorty when I worked at the Manitoba Hydro Area Office in Steinbach from 1972 - 1974. I enjoyed his humour when he came to the office. My sympathies to the family.
