Obituary of Suzanne Frechette

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our mother, grandmother, sister and friend Suzanne Fréchette (née Verrier) at Bethesda Regional Health Centre after a lengthy battle with cancer, complicated by Covid 19.

Mom was first and foremost a people-person.  She had a very, very large group of family and friends and loved talking to everyone.  Her phone calls often started with a cheerful, “How the hell are you?!” and would go on for hours.  She was the best listener and always had great advice to give. She was known to leave her young kids in the car for what felt like hours (it’s okay, it was the 80s), because she ran into a friend, cousin, or co-worker in the store and needed to stop of a good, long chat.  She loved people, made friends easily, and was so well-loved by a large circle who will miss her terribly.

She was always talking about her M&Ms (Mike and Mel) and loved her grandbabies so much.  When she wasn’t reading or playing computer games, you’d often find her thrift shopping.  Mom loved driving and would happily travel to visit friends and family. She always showed up for a visit with a bag full of treasures that she’d found and set aside just for you and kept lists of items to hunt down for her little ones.

Left to treasure her memory are her children, Michael (Sharlene) and Mélanie (Paul).   She will forever be in the hearts of her grandchildren, Connor, Karson, Landon, Yvonne, Rhéal and Théo. She was beloved by her siblings Lise (André) and Aimé (Verna), and was close with her nieces Anita (Gerald) and Pam (Paul) and her nephew, Marius.  She leaves behind a very large circle of extended family and friends.

Suzanne was predeceased by her father Edmond in 1996 and her mother Simone in 2016.  They have welcomed her home with open arms.

As per her request, there will be no funeral. A private interment will be held in the spring.

The family would like to thank the staff of Bethesda Regional Health Centre for taking such good care of our Mom and sister over these past difficult months.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made any charity.
