Dick Hildebrand was my opa. I loved him, he would try to pick me up by my ears so I would have to grab onto his arms so he didn't tear me ears off. I don't remember much of when he moved the music store to Stienbac from Portage, but I do remember being able to help and I loved that. I would enjoy going to the store some days to hang out with him and to help out around the store.

My deepest condolences to the family. We really enjoyed his ministry when he came to visit our church in Winnipeg. He showed the children love and care and he would ask if he could minister to us and we listen to share scriptures from the bible. He will be cherished and missed. Prayers and thoughts going to your family and when this covid is under control we will pay a visit to Steinbach to visit the store. From the One Generation Church Winnipeg.

Condolences to the Hildebrand kids Dan, Tim, Jerry and Marilyn and their families. Mr. Hildebrand was my first boss 42 years ago. From helping with deliveries, concerts, Lowrey events to dusting all the pianos and organs he kept me busy and out of trouble. I remember one very specific memory. We were at the Southgate Mall store for an evening with a very famous pop organist. I told Mr. Hildebrand “I want to be just like that artist”, Mr. Hildebrand had some “Dad advice” about being a travelling keyboard artist and encouraged me to consider other paths. A wise man. He brought music to so many families over years. Hildebrand Music and Jewelry is where I fell in love with music. How sad I was to see Mrs. Hildebrand also passed on Feb 2 this year as well. One thing is for sure, Elsie and Dick had faith in our Lord and that faith has reunited them in Heaven. RIP Mr. & Mrs. Hildebrand, you are forever in our hearts.

Sorry to hear of the passing of Mr. Hildebrand, I remember as a young teen going to his store on main street and always looking at all of his stuff and really wanted to buy a guitar. So once I had enough money at around 17 I went in and bought a Fender Bullet and Westone flying V guitar which I at some point made one guitar out of the two and still have them today 35 years later, He was always helpful and really wanted you to buy what you were needing, so he would let me try everything in the store if needed. Later on in life when he had the Portage store he would bring instruments back to steinbach if you wanted to try one. I know there are so many local people who went into his store that started their musical journey from the Hildebrand Music store, Thank you Mr Hildebrand for years of service and I hope God gives peace and beautiful memories to the family.

Dick Hildebrand made an impact in our community. I will always remember the Friday evening music nights at Hildebrand Music in the basement. We heard so many groups sing gospel music and it was free to attend. He created an environment of spiritual encouragement which blessed many people.
My condolences to the Hildebrand Family on losing both of their parents. My heart goes out to you.
