Obituary of Corneleous Wieler
It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our father Corneleous (Neil) Wieler on Tuesday, June 8, 2021, at Bethesda Place, Steinbach, MB. Dad was born on May 19, 1932, in Calderbank, SK.
He is survived and will be dearly missed by his six children and their families: Jerry (Beverly), Ronnie, Ken (Sheila), Lorna Devlin (Randy), Vivian Schellenberg (George) and Pamela McAllister (Todd); as well as 25 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren.
Dad was the last living member of his family.
Two of dad’s well-known phrases were: “it’s supper time” or “he’s ringing the dinner bell”, which meant that Jesus was calling him home.
Dad loved pizza and ice cream!
Dad worked as a farmer, automotive mechanic, a steam engineer and other various jobs over his lifetime.
Dad also loved to volunteer. From him going to live in Guatamala to teach the Bible and English at an orphanage; to over 20 years at Nassau Street Church (Winnipeg Food Harvest) Food Bank; to assisting people by pushing them in their wheelchairs; to different events, mealtimes, and kitchen duties in the CNIB building that he resided in. Dad continued to donate much of his time and funds to many, many organizations throughout his life.
