My condolences to the family. Ben will be missed. A gentle, hardworking man. I met him for the first time when he came to my shop asking about my colorful horse trailer. He wished to buy it. He had wonderful dreams and goals. I giggled that he was putting the cart before the horse. (no horse yet). We invited him to come and spend time with our horses. We had had just bought a bunch of foals. He started to bond with the palomino. We saw his love for him and decided to gift Trinity to him. We spent a lot of time together for years as he trained and learned more about horses. Ben had a trusting innocence with Trinity. Ben kept his horse with us until we had to move twice and let our horses go. Poor Ben had to find another place to board. We spent breaking bread together at our home and his. Roy Rodgers was his hero and he tried to model that in his training. Ben, you will be missed.

I was only a teen when Ben visited our yard to spend time with young Trinity. The colts brought him the same joy they brought me. Ben was always gentle and patient to a fault with the horses! Im sure Trinity was as loved as any horse ever was, and he was also a bit of a legend in Steinbach!

Ben was an awesome gentleman. He came to Fernwood Place to entertain the seniors with his movies, followed by a great chat with a cup of coffee and dainties which was served by the ladies. He came from the era that men into gentlemen—helpful, kind and always a smile. It is sad you had to suffer Ben but I am sure you are living in glory, sharing your smile.

Our sincerest condolences to the family,Ben was an amazing man, when I worked at Rest Haven he would come and show the old movies/travelogues to our residents. His kindness, the time and work involved setting up, not only in sharing the old movies/travelogues but spending time visiting with all of us was and will always be appreciated.

My condolences to the family of Ben. A couple of years ago I met him here in Steinbach and he talked about his horse. My granddaughter was taking horse lessons at the time and he said we should come to meet Trinity. My granddaughter ‘s name is also Trinity. We did stop by one day and had a great visit and he showed us all of Trinity’s tricks. He shared about how his Mother loved to go for rides. He missed her a lot when she passed away.
Just this last summer I met him again and he invited us to come again to see Trinity but it did not happen. We will always treasure the photos we have of him and Trinity. Also his love for horses. So sad that he had to suffer those final days. Take care! Helen Kroeker
