Obituary of Laurel Bruce Klassen

Laurel Bruce Klassen, age 65 of Niverville, MB, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 12^th, 2023,  at home surrounded by family.

He is survived by his beloved wife Sandra, his children Sawyer (Maggie) and Danielle (Justin), and his siblings Reg (Karyn), Debbie (Chuck), Doug (Sherry), Darren (Moni), and Kim (Randy).

He was predeceased by his father Benno, and his mother Frances.

Laurel was born in Rosthern, Saskatchewan, on August 23rd, 1957, and grew up on the family farm in Laird, Saskatchewan. Laurel married Sandra in Hamiota, Manitoba, in 1985. He spent 25 years with the RCMP, before finishing his working career installing flooring. He was an avid fan of the Montreal Canadiens, Dallas Cowboys, and especially the Saskatchewan Roughriders - a team he owned season tickets for, despite living in Manitoba. Laurel loved hockey, playing and coaching it for much of his life. He also enjoyed coaching AAA softball with Danielle, helping lead them to a Provincial Championship in 2020.

Laurel was a charismatic, endearing man who was famous for his sense of humour. His one-liners and storytelling were second to none, and laughter emanating from a room was an indicator of his presence. He loved his family above all else, and lived for his wife, children, and siblings.

The celebration of Laurel’s life will be held on Saturday, February 18^th, 2023, at 11:00 am at Niverville Community Fellowship, 85 2 St S, Niverville, MB. To join the family via livestream, please click HERE shortly before the start of the service.
