Obituary of Kenneth Limburg

Kenneth W. Limburg, age 53, died suddenly on Thursday, September 14, 2023, in West Perth, Ontario, from injuries sustained in a work related incident.

Ken is survived by his wife of 26 years, Sandra (Smith).

He was the proud dad to his four children, Sabrina, Cierra, Steven, and Melissa. His five grandchildren, Dexter, Lucas, Monsé, Marcus & Abel were his absolute delight.

Ken is also survived by his parents John and Lynda. He was their only child, born on March 13, 1970, in Guelph, Ontario.

His family moved to Emo, Ontario, where he grew up and graduated high school. He made friends there that have surpassed his lifetime.

Growing up he was surrounded by the beauty of nature. He loved spending time outdoors, riding his bike for miles to hang out with a friend, camping, hunting, and fishing trips filled with adventure. He once tied his boat to the roof of his little car just to go fishing with a friend.

Ken went on to college in Sault Ste. Marie, where he earned his chef license. He developed a love for cooking and he enjoyed cooking for others. Even though he changed careers, he still used his cooking skills. He made many “Highway Chef” posts, displaying his meal for the day. He dreamed of making a truckers cookbook and teach a healthier way to eat while on the road.

One of Ken’s hobbies was pyrography. He was given a wood burning kit and loved it right from the start. He put thought, love, and care into every project he did. His work will continue to shine on in many friends’ homes.

Ken tried his hand at many jobs, but he dreamed of driving the big rigs. He earned his Class 1, but put his dream on hold so he could be home for his soon to be family. He picked his dream back up later and started working for Big Freight. He travelled from coast to coast, his camera always ready to capture God’s beautiful creation.

He loved coming home and having the grandkids climb into “Papa’s Big Truck”. They’d blow the air horn or raid his snack bin. He was always on the lookout for something unique to bring home. His eyes always lit up watching them enjoy whatever he brought home.

The memorial service will be held on Wednesday, October 4, 2023, at 7:30 p.m. at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, Steinbach, MB.
