I got to work with Nettie at Green Valley School for a short time. When I arrived, she whole heartedly welcomed me. She could always make me smile and most of the time laugh, no matter how rough the day was going. She was a wonderful lady.

Nettie, a vibrant and integral part of Green Valley School worked as a librarian for many years, but her multifaceted role at the school extended far beyond the library shelves. She wore numerous hats—librarian, fashion police, Mexico trip planner, party organizer, and, above all, a cherished friend. Despite her initially tough exterior, it only took a week for any teacher working at the school to discover the tender-hearted soul beneath. Nettie's true essence shone through as a caring and loving person, quick to shed tears of both joy and sadness.
Our lives intersected in various domains – town committees, school functions, church and social events. Yet, it was the great barbeques at the farm that the teachers that taught while Nettie was at school will remember. Nettie, with her remarkable ability to connect people, turned these gatherings into cherished memories that will forever linger in our hearts.
Nettie's genuine care for the connections she made was the glue that bound our community together. In a world often preoccupied with tasks and responsibilities, she reminded us of the importance of fostering meaningful relationships. Her impact reached beyond professional and social circles, touching the very core of who we are.
As we bid farewell to Nettie, let us remember the joy she brought, the tears she shared, and the connections she valued. In the tapestry of our lives, she will forever be woven into the threads of love, friendship, and shared moments. May she rest in peace.
With heartfelt condolences,
Margaret Wiens

Margaret's words pay a fitting tribute to Nettie. Nettie taught me so many things while working together at GVS about life, fashion, professionalism, family, love, hardship, perseverance, hope and so much more. I never forget being corrected on my fashion faux-pas but also I'll never forget being welcomed into her home and into her heart. Nettie's laugh and her heart so, so big ... she will be truly missed. With deepest sympathies and prayers.
